The nondescript building Bright Future Media is housed in didn’t immediately encapsulate the energy that could be found within its walls, but the newly minted studio proved to be an incubator for upcoming talent on Saturday night. The occasion that brought together this wealth of influential individuals was the listening party for the Black Sands... Continue Reading →
Sometimes fate just has a way of bringing things together. The new Denver/Dallas R&B supergroup ARTARI can at least partially thank the stars for their creation, and their debut track Complicated is the product of both circumstance and hard work.
The 303's hip hop scene is becoming more robust by the day, and NTG Sound is the latest artist to make his presence felt in the city. His new tape Like Never Before is a solid example of his skills, especially the title track and Pay The Price, both of which showcase NTG's talent.
The white floors glistened as clearly affluent guests wandered from the entrance of the hotel up to their rooms. Before even meeting him, one thing was clear; Q Da Fool has reached another level. While only 20 years old, the DMV artist already has accomplishments under his belt that many vets in the game have yet to achieve. From signing to Roc Nation to performing on a nationwide tour with Shoreline Mafia, Q has been making a name for himself thanks to his raw and real musical style and aesthetic.
Melodic hip hop has become one of the most prominent forms of music in the past few years and there's no one doing it in Denver quite like Slouch. From catchy hooks to smooth, polished production, Slouch's sound has all the necessary ingredients to become something big, but his growth isn't complete yet. While he has already transformed his sound once (he was formerly known as P. Rose), the Mile High MC has his mind set on putting the finishes touches on his musical aesthetic in a variety of ways. Even though he may feel he has a ways to go still, the progression he has shown has been impressive already and is proof that he has the vision and work ethic it takes to reach the goals he's set for himself. The combination of these intangibles and the chemistry he has with producer slackbeatz make it feel like anything is possible for Slouch and his future is looking as bright as anyone's in the city.
Expansion and growth are integral aspects of Denver culture at the moment, and they have created a mindset that has helped grow the burgeoning hip hop scene in the Mile High City. One of the most prominent members of this freshly formed community is Ramond, a Denver native who has seen the city bend and morph into what it is today. While some people have found uncomfortability in the rapid growth, Ramond has embraced the change and is looking to bring that frontier mindset with him as he expands his sound and audience.
With Denver's hip hop scene progressing at a torrid pace, it can be difficult to know who to pay attention to and who is going to stick around for the long haul. RAMOND is definitely one of those artists. His new tape SEEDS is a perfect example of his abilities which include excellent wordplay, strong lyricism, and poignant topics. Full of personal and introspective themes, SEEDS provides a look into the mind of RAMOND and allows listeners to feel his joys, pains, and everything in between. The album deals with insecurities and successes with honesty, showing a depth of emotions that give a detailed look into RAMOND's journey and future goals.
The more I learn about the Denver hip hop scene, the more I realize just how slept on it is. TEJ is the latest Colorado artist to catch my attention and his new project BREAKFASTFORDINNER is some of the best hip hop to come out of the state in a little while.
Hip hop is a global game these days which means talent can be hidden around any corner. It could even present itself in the form of an Uber drive. That’s how I got introduced to the Denver-managed, Paris-living, Ghanaian-born artist TightFist and his story caught my interest just as much as his catchy music.
