Everyone should get ready for Mxlcxlm Z. The Denver based MC blesses the city this past weekend with a preview of his upcoming tape Reaping SZN and the event he put on was one of the most authentic I’ve ever been to. Taking place at the Syntax Physic Opera, the listening party immediately had that home grown vibe thanks to the funky yet sophisticated atmosphere in the venue and Mxlcxlm brought that feeling to life through performances from himself and a cast of other local musicians.
Bringing people together is a beautiful thing and The Conglomerates Showcase does a great job of helping introduce local talent to their city. The roster this time around was especially impressive and the good folks at RM3 (Rocky Mountain Music Management) seem to have found Denver's hip hop pulse.
The hip hop scene in Denver is finally beginning to thrive and performances like Ski Mask The Slump God's are part of the reason why. As you can see from the Frank Morales shot video, the energy Ski brings is palpable; you can nearly taste the crowd's excitement as they thump along with the South Florida rapper. With a packed, lively crowd, shows like Ski Mask's are proof that there is a hip hop audience in the Mile High City, people just need to bring out some enthusiastic performances. If this show was confirmation of anything, it's that there will be a lot more shows with sold out crowds making some serious noise in Denver.
If there's one thing we're certain of at JIGGY Hip Hop, it's that Denver rap is on the rise. While there are a variety of reasons for this happening, one big thing is the local scene putting together shows that highlight Mile High City artists, showing just how much talent is in the city. Joints & Jawns is one of these shows -- actually a series of them -- and has helped showcase dozens of up and coming artists that are trying to make names for themselves in the city. From bigger names such as AP to talented but less well known artists like Myell Westcoast, the concert series has unearthed some real musical gems and we're looking forward to seeing who else they have in store for future events. Learn a little bit more about all 27 artists that came out for the 3 day event below and be sure to get ready for the next Joints & Jawns show.
